InterPlan SolutionNASCO's performance enhancing InterPlan solution centers around three product lines, BlueCard®, BlueExchange, and FlexLink.
NASCO provides enhanced BlueCard capabilities by leveraging existing national, local, labor, dental, vision, and major medical account functionality. Working with customer Plans and the BlueCross BlueShield Association (BCBSA), we continue to optimize both system and user performance, sustaining us as a cost-effective platform for BlueCard business. Through our product support and close work group coordination, NASCO has helped its customers improve performance and efficiency. This was indicated in 2005 by an overall three-point average increase in BlueCard Index Scores for NASCO customers.
NASCO remains the single largest processor of BlueCard Host claims for BlueCross and BlueShield Plans across the country. In 2005, NASCO processed over 57 million BlueCard claims.
NASCO BlueExchange ensures Plan compliance with BCBSA mandates for HIPAA transactions. Plans that elect to have NASCO respond on their behalf to BlueExchange inquiries (i.e. use the NASCO BlueExchange service), decrease or eliminate local development costs and improve response performance to their BlueExchange inquiries. NASCO facilitates Plan involvement in developing and implementing our BlueExchange solution through the BlueExchange Plan User Group. The group is open to participation from all Control and Servicing Plans, regardless of whether or not they use the NASCO BlueExchange service.
Since January 1, 2006, NASCO has responded to approximately 200,000 membership eligibility transactions and 50,000 claim status inquiry transactions. All NASCO BlueExchange Plans continue to perform in the top 25% of the BlueExchange rankings.
